This has become one of my favourite Christmas songs! I heard it a few years ago on CBC radio while I was driving. Actually, as I recall, I heard it and had to pull the car over to find some tissues and get a grip on myself. I've finally reached the point now that I can sing it without going to pieces, but I still remember how the little story pulled at my heart. I hope it touches you too! I forgot I had this one on my camera! I think I recorded this in late December or early January and I guess I didn't take it off my camera. I don't hear this tune of Johnny's (I have no idea if he's the original artist!) that often, but I just checked youtube and heard a second version of this that Johnny did with a really different rhythm pattern. Amazing how different the two versions sound... but I think this is my favourite version. The country version sounds a little more square to me, whereas I like the bluesy sound of this one. I think I may have rearranged the lyrics a little depending on what I found off the net, so it won't be an exact cover. But there you go with another dose of Johnny!
